Mattson Awarded 2009 Water Conservation Business of the Year
The Alameda County Water District has awarded our Fremont facility with the 2009 Water Conservation Business of the Year Certificate.
2009 American Vacuum Society Science Educators' Workshop
On November 9th 2009 American Vacuum Society (AVS) sponsored 22 Science Educators to visit Mattson Technology at the Fremont site. These educators consist of 19 high school science teachers from various states across the country and 3 university professors, who are the instructors for the Science Educators' Workshop (SEW) during the 56th Annual AVS Conference held in San Jose Convention Center November 9-12, 2009. As an active AVS member Dr. Sing-Pin Tay, Mattson Fellow, was asked by the Society's Education Committee to coordinate the 2009 SEW workshop. A Laboratory for Learning – Sustainable Valley Foundation
Mattson is committed to supporting strategic education programs that encourage academic achievement and teacher professional development through its contributions to A Laboratory for Learning. This is an initiative of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group and its Sustainable Valley Foundation whose goal it is to enhance teacher professional development and improve student achievement in mathematics in Silicon Valley. In its first two years, Laboratory for Learning has reached 100 local teachers in Silicon Valley.
Mattson Technology is a member company of the SVLG, which is an organization that involves principal officers and senior manager in a cooperative effort to address major public policy issues affecting Silicon Valley.
Mattson Technology employees annually participate in the Family Giving Tree’s Back-to-School Drive to collect and distribute backpacks filled with school supplies to children in September. They also donate to the Holiday Wish program which by selecting a wish card, and pledging to purchase a special gift for a child in need.
In order to support the ever-increasing population of those in need, Mattson Technology has on ongoing commitment to participate in the annual Alameda County Community Food Bank Drive to Fight Hunger.
The KOM Recreational Ride is a leisurely 30-mile course open to riders of any skill level. Along with the more challenging KOM Time Trial Race, it is the kick off event for the San Jose Cycling Classic. This event benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training, the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition and Fit for Learning.
Mattson is honored to be the sponsor for this annual event. It's Mattson's goal that the King of the Mountain will further engage the community in San Jose's Green Vision and further raise awareness of cycling as an everyday form of transportation and as an activity with significant health benefits.
Tour de Cure is a nationwide fund-raising bike event that benefits the American Diabetes Association. With over 23.6 million adults and children affected by diabetes in the United States, Mattson Technology believes that this is a disease that touches almost everyone in some way.
The Mattson Team was one of the Top Ten Fund Raisers for the San Francisco Bay Area and was in the Top Ten for the entire United States in 2008. Mattson has been participating in this event for the last three years.
Over the past two years, we have raised a combined total of over $22,000. The goal this year is to add $15,000 more to the search for a cure. Mattson Technology matches the first $5000 of donations, so our fund raising efforts get twice the mileage! We are determined to reach our goal one rider at a time!
